Why the Film?

There is a simple reason I have worked on this project, pursuit of truth. Jim Morrison spoke and wrote that as a child in New Mexico, he encountered a deadly motor vehicle accident which had a profound personal impact. My desire has been to determine if the event was fact or fiction. My research has led me to believe Jim Morrison was speaking about his own human experience regarding an encounter with a horrible accident which was both deadly and life changing. This conclusion is based upon identification of the evidence of historical documents and living witnesses.

My job is to present the historical evidence as clearly as possible. Included in the research are: a newspaper article from October 17, 1947; observations from living witnesses to the accident; a timeline placing the Morrison family in New Mexico in the fall of 1947; and comments from the person who recorded Jim Morrison telling the story.

There will undoubtedly be mixed reactions to a story that many people believe Jim Morrison embellished or fabricated. I challenge everyone to examine the evidence first, then make a judgment about the research matching Jim Morrison's story.

You may or may not agree with me. As a friend of mine, Terry Taylor has written, "It all depends on how you look at these things." But first you have to look.
